Family/Divorce Mediation

Family mediation deals with all issues associated with divorce, separation, and post-divorce. Family mediation can also resolve disputes between non-married couples and those with other family relationships, such as grandparents. Family mediation allows couples or families to resolve disputes in a less adversarial way, preserving the relationship or terminating it in an easier way. When issues involve children, mediation allows parents to work out agreements that are in the best interest of their children, thus reducing the conflict they are exposed to.

Attorneys are welcome but usually do not attend family mediation sessions unless when complicated property issues are discussed. If present, they advise their clients of legal rights. If they are not present, parties are encouraged to consult with them before signing a mediated Memorandum of Agreement.

COST
Individual parties pay an administrative fee of $300.00 for each three-hour session, with $100.00 for each additional hour. A reduced fee may be considered if a party has a pro bono attorney or has an informa pauperis status with the courts.
